BECOME AN EXPERT WITH SCISSOR LIFT TRAINING
THIS COURSE WILL EQUIP TRAINEES WITH THE SKILLS, ATTITUDES AND KNOWLEDGE NEEDED TO FUNCTION ON A MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) SAFELY.
Learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:
• Have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work
• Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 3
• Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 3
• Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 3; and
• Be medically fit to work at height
MODULES & LESSONS
All trainees will learn everything needed to be able to operate scissor lifts safely and effectively.
TYPES OF HAZARDS
Understand what hazards are and how they could pose a risk to your operations.
FACTORS AFFECTING STABILITY
This module will show you how to prevent an imbalance.
SELECTION OF APPROPRIATE MACHINE
Not every machine is suitable for every job. This module will show you how to select the appropriate machine.
FUNDAMENTALS OF PRE-USE
Before you start usage of all scissor lifts, it's important you know what to do.
MAIN COMPONENTS
What are the main components of an operational scissor lift machine? You'll find out in this module.
SAFE WORKING LOAD
It's advisable to know the limits of each scissor lift in order to keep your operations safe.

- Safety devices, signage, labels and controls
- Legislations and industry guidelines relating to operations
- Types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Operational procedures relating to operations
- Safe work practices for operations
